Public Cruises
The Floating Classroom Program offers cruises aboard the Karma for members of the public at times when trips for students or other organized youth groups are not scheduled.
These naturalist-led, one-hour cruises include demonstrations of the oceanographic research gear. Live specimens — shrimp, fish, crabs and more — collected from the bay during the cruise are placed in “touch tanks” on board the vessel.
For safety reasons, children under grade four cannot be accommodated. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
The date and time of the next cruise are posted at the boat, or are available by calling 409-201-3357. Please call ahead for reservations.
Tours are $15 per person (cash and checks only), and all proceeds go to scholarships to reduce the cost of trips for Texas schoolchildren throughout the year.
